Gerhard Bouwer

Gerhard has devoted his life to agriculture, beginning his journey on a family farm in Zimbabwe. From a young age, he worked alongside his father, learning the intricacies of farming and developing a deep-rooted passion for the land. When he was 12, his family moved to South Africa, where he continued to assist his father on their new farm.

With dreams of becoming a farmer himself, Gerhard ventured into farming in his early twenties, establishing his own operations and dedicating over two decades to cultivating 11 different crops from tabacco, corn, soybeans, potatoes and citrus. However, in pursuit of a brighter future for his children, he and his wife, Linda, made the bold decision to emigrate to Texas, selling his farm with a promise to himself: he would never farm again.

Yet, life has a way of surprising us. After ten years in America, as he sought to find his footing, an unexpected opportunity arose to purchase Ramey Plant Farm. Embracing this chance in 2009, Gerhard took a significant risk that reignited his passion for agriculture. Under his leadership, Ramey Plant Farm has flourished into a thriving business, blending years of experience with a renewed vision and passion for farming.

Today, Gerhard continues to inspire those around him, cultivating not just crops, but a legacy of dedication, resilience, and commitment to business and stewardship. He has taught us so much about running and leading a business and we are super thankful and grateful that he has given us the job but more than that an opportunity to learn under him and glean wisdom from his years of experience.
